One of the goals of Myriad Voices is to encourage exploration and discovery. Although the project began as an audio recording celebrating the remarkable diversity of American piano music, I also hope it will serve as a resource for teachers, students, performers, and curious listeners.
Each piece page is designed to provide multiple pathways into the music. In addition to video of each piece, visitors will find a brief composer biography, a program note introducing the work, links to resources for further exploration, and information about locating the score. Together, these materials are intended to provide historical context while also encouraging deeper engagement with the music itself.
Piano teachers and students may discover new repertoire to explore in lessons, studios, and recitals. Classroom music instructors may find examples that complement discussions of American music, cultural history, identity, immigration, folk traditions, and musical exchange. Individual listeners may simply enjoy following their curiosity from one composer or piece to the next.
My hope is that Myriad Voices will inspire not only listening, but also continued exploration. American piano music is far richer, more diverse, and more interconnected than many of us realize, and these 28 works represent only a small glimpse into that remarkable musical landscape.

Myriad Voices
